I paint on a very small scale because it allows me to focus my attention on moments of light.
These paintings all capture specific places. Most of the paintings depict the Baltimore Avenue area of West Philly, between 45th and 52nd Streets. Living in that area for 17 years, I was always struck by the views of the architecture illuminated by sunlight.
Other paintings are of places across the country that I have visited. These include the plains of the Midwest and cities in California. Finally, there is also a group of images from New Delhi and Jaipur, India.
With all the images, my intent is to preserve what captured my attention in that specific place and time.
