LINDSEY WAVREK
I create immersive, tactile works that blend traditional drawing and painting techniques with embroidery, fabric, metals and recycled materials. Drawn to objects that would otherwise be discarded, I often reuse colorful plastics and textiles that evoke the aesthetics of my 90s childhood.
My subject matter explores figures in dreamlike, surreal environments, using personal symbolism to process emotions and memories through meditative material experimentation. I strive to build work that harmonizes seemingly disparate components and shifts with the viewer’s perspective physically and emotionally, capturing and reflecting light in ways that continuously transform and emphasize diverse individual experiences as part of collective humanity.
