Bricks are the building blocks of a home. Mortared together, they bolster the infrastructure of a community, ensuring strength and offering sanctuary. When that community is in peril, bricks can also be well-aimed projectiles—targeting hatred and harassment, responding in kind when reason and humanity come undone, punching holes in a bigoted status quo.
Our first BRICK BY BRICK show marked Stonewall at 50. These connotations naturally spilled over from those hot, humid June 1969 nights and days and inspired this brand. Although Stonewall is not the focus of this second edition, the brick proudly remains our symbol. This community of artists and art lovers will continue building with bricks and holding them high up and down 13th Street—our Christopher Street—as our partner in this show, WILLIAM WAY, is in the process of reimagining their home and transforming it into a modern complex that will soon be a greater nexus of engagement and a towering symbol of Pride.
NOW through Friday, July 19, we invite you to join us for the entire run of BRICK BY BRICK 2. Together, we will show the way forward, artwork by artwork and, yes, brick by brick, one voice at a time—and then with all our voices in unison.
After the June 9 Opening, our program will be available and downloadable right here. (NOTA BENE TO ONLINE BUYERS: While we requisition in-person purchases on an almost-daily basis, it is still possible that you may purchase something on this website that may have already sold in our Gallery. We will make every effort to avoid this circumstance.)
